What You’ll Need
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Dough Pro Garlic Bread Mix | 500 g |
| Dry Yeast | 10 g |
| Water | 250 ml |
Optional finishing glaze:
Melted butter, garlic butter, or garlic-infused oil.
Method
1. Mix the dough
Add the Dough Pro Garlic Bread Mix, dry yeast, and water into a mixing bowl.
Mix on slow speed for approximately 3 minutes, or until the ingredients begin to come together and form a dough.
2. Develop the dough
Stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure all the dry mix is fully incorporated.
Increase the mixer to second speed and mix for a further 10 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and well-developed.
3. Shape the dough
Remove the dough from the mixing bowl and place it onto a lightly floured surface.
Cut and shape the dough into your preferred garlic bread portions. For a loaf-style garlic bread, shape the dough and place it into a greased bread pan.
4. Proof until doubled in size
Cover the dough with a clean tea towel or cling wrap.
Leave it to proof in a warm area until the dough has approximately doubled in size.
5. Bake until golden
Place the dough into a preheated oven and bake at 180°C for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and baked through.
Baking time may vary slightly depending on the size and shape of your garlic bread.
6. Finish with butter or garlic oil
Once baked, remove the garlic bread from the oven and brush while warm with melted butter, garlic butter, or garlic-infused oil.
Serve warm for the best flavour and texture.
Baker’s Tips
For a richer garlic bread, brush with garlic butter immediately after baking.
For extra flavour, add chopped parsley, grated cheese, chilli flakes or crushed garlic to your butter glaze.
For a crispier finish, slice the baked garlic bread and toast it lightly before serving.
Serving Ideas
Dough Pro Garlic Bread is perfect as a side for pasta, soups, stews, braais, grilled meats, or family meals.
You can also slice it into portions and serve it as a snack, starter, or sharing bread.
Storage & Reheating
Garlic bread is best enjoyed fresh and warm.
Once cooled, store in an airtight container. To reheat, place in the oven for a few minutes until warmed through. For a crispier texture, slice and toast before serving.
