Freshly baked scones are a classic favourite — soft, golden and perfect with butter, jam, cream or cheese.
With Dough Pro Scone Mix, you can prepare delicious scones with a simple method and consistent results. This recipe uses only a few added ingredients and is ideal for home baking, small bakeries, cafés, caterers and anyone looking for a reliable scone mix that bakes beautifully every time.
What You’ll Need
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Dough Pro Scone Mix | 500 g |
| Cooking Oil | 120 ml |
| Milk | 550 ml |
| Vanilla Essence | 5 ml / 1 tsp |
Method
1. Add the wet ingredients
Add the cooking oil, milk and vanilla essence into a mixing bowl.
Set the mixer to slow speed.
2. Add the scone mix
Add the Dough Pro Scone Mix into the mixing bowl.
Mix on slow speed for approximately 1 minute, or until the ingredients begin to combine.
3. Scrape and finish mixing
Stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure all the dry mix is fully incorporated.
Mix again on second speed for a further 2 minutes, or until the scone dough comes together.
4. Roll and cut
Remove the dough from the mixing bowl and place it onto a lightly floured surface.
Using a rolling pin, gently flatten the dough to approximately 3.5 cm to 4 cm thickness.
Cut into rounds using your preferred scone cutter.
5. Bake until golden
Place the cut scones onto a baking tray.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10–12 minutes, or until the scones are baked through and lightly golden.
Baker’s Tips
Do not overwork the dough after mixing. Handle it gently to help keep the scones soft.
For a more golden finish, lightly brush the tops with milk before baking.
For extra flavour, you can add raisins, cranberries, choc chips or grated cheese, depending on whether you want a sweet or savoury scone.
Use a sharp scone cutter and press straight down without twisting. This helps the scones rise more evenly.
Serving Ideas
Serve warm with butter, jam and cream for a classic tea-time treat.
You can also serve Dough Pro scones with cheese, whipped cream, fruit preserves or honey.
For cafés and bakeries, scones can be served as part of breakfast menus, tea platters, catering boxes or grab-and-go bakery displays.
Storage & Reheating
Scones are best enjoyed fresh on the day they are baked.
Once cooled, store in an airtight container. To refresh before serving, warm gently in the oven for a few minutes.
